The Arena at TD Place hosts this weekend’s Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group first-round tie between Canada and Great Britain. Matches will be played on an indoor hard court and will be the first ever tennis event held at the venue.

Canada and Great Britain have only played once in the history of Davis Cup, with the Brits posting a 4-1 win in Bournemouth, England back in May 1967. As current defending champions, Great Britain is the No. 1 ranked Davis Cup country in the world and will be the seeded nation for this tie. Canada is currently ranked No. 12.

Lansdowne as a whole will be a bustling this weekend, as the capital’s annual celebration of the season, Winterlude, will kick-off on Friday, February 3 and the always entertaining Polar Hero, covering the Stadium at TD Place in an icy obstacle course, will take place on Saturday, February 4.

Transportation to and from Lansdowne will be enhanced to accommodate this extra traffic, with FREE transit options available from multiple locations around the city.

If you’re travelling to TD Place this weekend take advantage of the Rideau Canal Skateway which officially re-opened this week. TD Place Guest Services will offering a free “skate check”, so tennis fans rest assured their skates will be looked after and toasty warm while they enjoy Davis Cup action. The “skate check” will be located behind section 18.

Davis Cup ticket holders can ride any OC Transpo route, three hours before the event starts until three hours after it ends. Thanks to Winterlude, you can board the OLG Sno-Bus for free on February 4 and 5. Park at City Hall (110 Laurier Avenue West) for $0.50/half hour and take the OLG Sno-Bus from Confederation Park to Lansdowne Park.

No parking will be available at Lansdowne for Davis Cup attendees without a pre-purchased voucher, which is sold out. Those with pre-paid parking can ONLY access Lansdowne via Bank Street on Saturday, February 4 and Sunday, February 5, as Queen Elizabeth Drive will be closed to regular traffic with Winterlude events on.
