Atletico Ottawa In Action: A Series of Firsts
Footy fans! Atlético Ottawa will play their first-ever match in club history this Saturday, August 15th at 12PM EST. They will go head to head against provincial counterpart, York9FC in match 1 of the first stage.
Breaking: There is a watch party happening on the pitch at TD Place organized be the club. DETAILS on their Facebook Page…
Yes, we’d rather be watching them in person on the TD Place pitch, but that will have to wait. For now, it’s The Island Games – a super exciting tournament-style series put on by the Canadian Premier League (CPL). The Island Games all happen in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Fans and supporters alike will see a 28-match first phase with the top four clubs advancing to the second round. The top two clubs will meet in the championship match, with the winning club crowned the 2020 Canadian Premier League Champion.
The anticipation of this unique season, paired with so many firsts for our Ottawa side, is almost too much to handle.
What are those firsts?
- First Starting 11.
- First Match Ever.
- First Time: Head Coach Mista has seen it all in terms of playing, and now he boldly moves forward as Manager. This will be his first match as a pro manager.
- First Goal. Fingers crossed to see a lot of goals, but for a new club, their first goal in their first match would be pretty special.
- First Win. Not trying to get ahead of things here, but the club will be playing many games in a condensed amount of time, so let’s hope they pull out a couple of victories.
Speaking of Firsts… wouldn’t it be cool to see their first-ever signing and former Pacific FC captain Ben Fisk score their first goal?
All matches will be broadcast exclusively through the CPL’s media partner, OneSoccer.
