A COOL 800KM DRIVE TO SUPPORT THE CANADIAN WOMEN
TD Place will be rocking on Sunday, September 2nd as they host the Canadian National Women’s Soccer team at 2:00 p.m. This is incredible news for Melanie Schuller. She plans to hit the road and clock over 800km to support our Women’s National Team.
Hailing from Toronto, Ontario, Melanie and her soccer infused family admit that they try to see them (both Men and the Women) every time they’re in town. She explains that when she was growing up there weren’t many options to see women play professional sports, so exposing her 2 year-old daughter, Zoe, to experiences like this is most important.
We asked her why soccer has such a big impact on her family and her response put a big, goofy smile on our faces. From watching and playing whenever she gets the chance, to meeting her husband through her local team’s supporters group, the sport surrounds her family. She acknowledges that without this beautiful game, the couple would have never met. The sport brought them together and now they’re passing on their love to their daughter.
“Mostly I’m just looking forward to spending some quality time with my daughter, and exposing her to women representing their country through sport. It’s heartening to know that seeing women play at such a high level will be normal to her.”
Naturally, Melanie is a big fan of Christine Sinclair and hopes there will be more opportunities in the future to see the team play, especially with the World Cup coming in 2026. We look forward to hosting Mel and her daughter and we may even try to convert them to Ottawa Fury FC fans by the end!
Don’t miss this epic match in the Stadium at TD Place on Sunday, September 2nd. Tickets are still available here: https://ow.ly/19b230lCMUh
