From Factories and Sandwich Shops to the Main Stage at TD Place
“He can play anytime he wants. He has the invite for the rest of his life.” – Jimmy Fallon, on Nathaniel Rateliff playing on his late night TV show.
If you don’t know about Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, you need to read this. Whether you’re coming to the show or (foolishly) missing it, this band’s story will give you goosebumps, tears, smiles and everything in between.
The story ends in international fame, performances on all the late night shows, Coachella and FarmAid, and the story begins in a small church band in Missouri alongside his mother, father and sister. From losing his father at the age of 13 to working menial factory jobs and fighting alcoholism, Nathaniel Rateliff’s soulful music reflects every emotion and battle he’s experienced along the way. After over a decade of singing and songwriting, he thought his time had come and gone. In 2013 this all changed.
The Night Sweats, a seven-piece soul band created by Nathaniel, emerged and shocked the world. Number one hit song, “S.O.B” went viral and has been recognized by the music God, Paul McCartney, while Rolling Stone has written a number of stories on the band. Selling out arenas across the world and connecting to thousands with raw, emotive lyrics, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats prove to be one of the most unlikely success stories in contemporary roots rock history.
Nathaniel comments on their latest album, ‘Tearing at the Seams’, “I remember finishing one song and just losing my sh*t and breaking down. These songs are so personal, but not everyone will get that. I get to leave little secrets in there for myself, so that everybody else gets to have their own individual interpretations of the songs.”
The legendary folk-soul-rock group is coming to your city and you do not want to miss it. Get ready to party with Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats on September 19 at 8:00pm, right here at TD Place.
