Valerie Hughes
Valerie Hughes joined OSEG in 2015 as then Director of Major Events. She has continually taken on new challenges and responsibilities over the years which led to her promotion to the role of Vice-President, Event and Entertainment in 2022.
As Vice-President, Event and Entertainment, Valerie is responsible for the acquisition, management and execution of all events happening at TD Place, in addition to the creation of new, OSEG-driven events that operate at Lansdowne Park. For these, she oversees event production, event conversion and event procurement, all with the goal of generating incremental revenue and site traffic for Lansdowne and OSEG.
Valerie is an experienced event executive, having spent over 30 years planning and executing large scale events. Prior to joining OSEG, Valerie was a leader in the international sporting event scene and held various roles with National Sport Organizations like Canada Soccer and Hockey Canada. Some of the events Valerie contributed to include the 1997 Francophone Games, FIFA U-19 Women’s World Cup 2002, FIFA U-17 World Cup 2007, IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship 2009, IIHF Women’s World Hockey Championships 2013, FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015 and the 2017 Grey Cup.
Valerie is a native of St. Catharines, Ontario who holds a degree from Laurentian University in Physical Education and a Sport Administration master’s degree from the University of Ottawa. Valerie currently lives in Ottawa with her youngest daughter Kate, while her eldest daughter is pursuing a business degree in Lilles, France.
